Wow what a great session last night on Marketing by Sarah West of McCarthywest. Sarah touched upon the different forms of marketing that we can use in our businesses.

  • The first was Email Marketing and the main thing to remember is – make sure your content is relevant and you have a clear message. Not that I want to give away too much but some other pointers are give your email a catchy title and give a call to action. There is no real right day to send an email although first thing on a Monday and last thing on a Friday are the least favorite, so just make sure you test the different days and see what works best for your audience.
  • SEO or Search Engine Optimisation will get your website found and as your website is part of your marketing strategy you will want it to be found easily by your potential clients. One way to do this is to provide fresh content on your website, this could be in the form of a blog. Another way to increase visibility on you website is to list your business in free online directories, such as UKsmallbusinessdirectory.
  • Other ways to market your business include Social Media, Direct Mail, Promotions and Advertising, with these and all of the above you need to know who your audience are and where they are as this will determine which forms of marketing you use. You will need to make sure when you are building those relationships you give them useful information and when you want them to buy tell them the Benefit to them.
