Thank you to Angela Spiteri for her great points on making sure you stand out from the crowd.

Unemployment has risen sharply during this recession, unemployment in the UK now stands at an astonishing 2.57 million. Employers receiving hundreds of CV’s for each job – How do you make yours stand out from the crowd?

90% of employers either use, or plan to use social networking to find new staff. We all love to share gossip on Facebook and Twitter so beware… Here’s how you can use your profile to bag yourself that dream job: TRY (A LITTLE) CYBERSTALKING Find an employee or employer of a company you’d like to work for on Twitter and get in touch. Keep your conversation (strictly!) professional, they could tell you what it’s like to work there and even update you with internal vacancies. BUILD YOUR OWN BRAND Nearly 50% of employers screen candidates with a simple internet search. Try it using your own name, remove anything incriminating and add a few strategic links related to your industry for them to find (clever stuff!). NETWORK More than 100 million people use LinkedIn, so even if you’re not looking for a new job, it’s worth creating a profile. Update it regularly, so you get noticed by employers who are looking to recruit.

And if you’re far too busy for all this then use the services of a VA to Pimp Up Your Profile
